North Platte Senior Center

A nonprofit organization

The North Platte Senior Center provides freedom, dignity and independence for the older population of North Platte and Lincoln County. The Senior Center is the community focal point where older adults come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills; respond to their diverse needs and interests: enhance their dignity: support their independence and encourage their involvement in and with the community and the center itself.

The North Platte Senior Services Center officially opened its doors for service to the community in December of 1979. The Center's mission at that time was to provide a gathering place for North Platte's senior citizens. Since that time, the scope of the Center's mission has increased to include quality of life activities, such as, seminars on health issues, financial and legal help topics, bingo, dancing, table pool, shuffleboard, card clubs and blood pressure screenings.

Last year, we served 40,233 congregate, curbside, and home delivered meals. Staff also prepare the meals for the Early Head Start program and Hershey Senior Center. For those over 60, we ask a suggested donation of $6.00 per meal. No one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Additional revenues are essential to the Senior Center to maintain current staffing levels and program services. We want to ensure that the Center is able to continue to provide healthy and nutritious noon-time and home delivered meals, along with health and social activities.
