The Boy Scouts of America has been in existence since 1910, and a council or district has been in existence in North Platte since 1919. During that time thousands of youth have had the opportunity to learn life skills in an outdoor environment. The Overland Trails Territory maintains a camping facility near Lake Maloney in Lincoln County. In addition, we staff a retail Scout Shop and district headquarters for Lincoln County and the surrounding area.

There are currently around 250 young people registered in programs in the Buffalo Bill District. Those members range in age from 6-21.

As a part of the Scouting program, youth must provide hours of community service to various non-profit, church, and public organizations. Food drives, conservation projects as well as community improvement projects contribute thousands of hours to our community each year.
