Frequently Asked Questions for Donors

  • What is North Platte Giving Day?

    North Platte Giving Day is a fundraising campaign during which donors specify which participating local nonprofits to help and how much to give.  Donors will be able to make contributions online or at local Giving Sites. North Platte Giving Day is hosted by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

  • When is North Platte Giving Day?

    North Platte Giving Day is Wednesday, May 8, 2024, ending at at 11:59 PM Central Time.  Early Giving begins April 25.

  • Who can donate?

    Anyone with a credit card or debit card and access to the internet can participate online. Also, donors may deliver or mail checks to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation.

  • What cards are accepted online?

    MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express donations are accepted through the North Platte Giving website.

  • Where may checks be dropped off or mailed?

  • Is there a minimum gift? Maximum gift? More than one gift?

    The minimum online donation accepted is $10 to any participating community nonprofit organization or causes. There is no maximum gift. You may donate to as many participating nonprofit organizations as you wish.

  • Are donations tax-deductible?

    North Platte Giving Day gifts are tax-deductible as charitable contributions to the fullest extent allowed by law.

  • How will I be recognized as a Donor?

    You will receive an immediate thank you and tax receipt from Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation for an online donation. If you donate by check, you will receive a thank you and receipt from Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation once the check has been processed. Unless anonymity is requested, most nonprofit organizations also may thank you and recognize you for making a donation to help them.

  • How will online donations be reported on my credit card statement?

    Your credit card statement will read: Mid-Neb Community Foundation.

  • May I designate how a nonprofit uses my gift?

    North Platte Giving Day gifts are considered unrestricted charitable contribution and will be disbursed to the nonprofit cause or causes specified by the donor. As charitable contributions, no goods or services may be received by the donor in exchange for donations.

  • How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?

    Participating nonprofit organizations will receive the full value of each donation. Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation and an anonymous donor are covering all transaction processing and credit card fees.

  • Is my donation tax-deductible? How do I get a copy of my receipt?

    All donations are fully tax-deductible . Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, will disburse donations to the nonprofit organizations specified by donors.


    Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will provide an electronic receipt at the time of each online donation via email that you can use as a record of donation for tax purposes. You may want to print out a copy of your email receipt for your files. If you donate by check, you will receive a receipt in the mail from Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation once checks have been processed.

  • What if I can't find my favorite nonprofit on the website?

    If you can't find a nonprofit on the website, they may not be participating currently. Each organization must be registered and be recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charitable organization in good standing with the IRS as well as have a location and provide services other than religious in North Platte or Lincoln County, Nebraska.

  • How are North Platte Giving Day donations made online processed?

    Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation is partnering with its online technology partner, Neon One, and credit card payment processors to handle the transacting and processing of funds donated through the North Platte Giving website. All online gifts are charged at the time they are made.

  • Is my donation safe and secure?

    The North Platte Giving Day website is powered by Neon Giving Days and is a secure PCI-Level 1 compliant site for donations.

  • When will the nonprofit organization receive my donation?

    Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will make payments to each nonprofit organization following the conclusion of North Platte Giving Day and after all transactions are verified and accounting finished. This is normally within 2 to 3 weeks.

  • Will my specified nonprofit organization get information about me?

    Unless anonymity is specifically requested, donation amounts and donor name and contact information will be forwarded to donor-specified nonprofit organizations and your name may appear in that organization's print and electronic donor listings. Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation gets donor names and contact information along with limited information to identify a credit card charge, but not full credit card information. Donor information will not be shared with or sold to any outside vendors or third parties by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. Donor name and contact information will be shared only with the organizations donors specified to receive donations and will not be shared with other organizations participating in North Platte Giving Day.
